Win32_Service StartMode 'Unknown'

Hello,
I'm in need of some troubleshooting tips regarding some instances of the
Win32_Service class wherein the StartMode (and other properties) appear via
WbemTest (and other methods) as 'Unknown', but viewing the same service
properties via the services snap-in display as 'Automatic'. I have attempted
restarting the service(s) that display StartMode as 'Unknown', followed by
restarting WMI, followed by rebooting the machine, and all have failed to
rectify the problem.

Thanks,

Matt

Hello Matt

I do not seem to find services whose StartMode is Unknown in wbemtest in my
Windows 7 machine.

Is there anything special with that service? Is it a Microsoft built-in
service or made by some third parties?

Does it help if you re-install the Windows service?

What's your current OS version?
- I will check whether it's a issue fixed in newer OS.

Does the service display its start mode correctly in wbemtest on other
machines? What about Windows 2003/XP and Windows Vista/7?
- this can help to narrow down whether the issue is caused by OS
environment, or the service itself, or the specific machine.

If you elevate the process of wbemtest, do you still see the problem?
